About Penctacle
by Saul Davis Zlatkovski
Affordably priced at $19.95, Pentacle is an entertaining and informing biography of the great musical figure, Carlos Salzedo. In the center of musical activity for five decades, his life travels from the Basque region of France, to Paris, to New York and tours all across America. From Damrosch to Ditson, from Ravel to Rockefeller, you never know who will turn up next in this parade of notables. It contains a generous selection of photographs, and informative appendixes about Salzedo's music, teaching and performing.
Marietta Bitter was a pupil and friend of Salzedo's, married to the well-known actor, Walter Abel, and a teacher of Harpo Marx. Her writing is humorous, stylish, witty, intelligent and perceptive. She doesn't tell you about Salzedo's life as much as she helps you experience it as it happened.
Pentacle is suitable for ages 10 and up, and belongs in your library, and in your local library. If you don't find it there, ask them to purchase it.
